Prince William<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s friend Sunjay Kapur<\/strong> died on Thursday, June 12, after collapsing during a match at Guards Polo Club in Windsor, England, according to multiple outlets. He was 53.<\/p>\n

The Telegraph<\/a> reported on Friday, June 13, that Kapur \u201cfell ill\u201d during the polo match. His polo team was playing the Sujan Indian Tigers in the subsidiary final of the Queen\u2019s Cup. According to the outlet, witnesses said they heard Kapur say, \u201cI\u2019ve swallowed something\u201d during the medical episode.<\/p>\n

The Mirror<\/a> reported that Kapur is believed to have swallowed a bee, \u201cpotentially triggering anaphylactic shock that caused his heart to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n

Per the Mayo Clinic, \u201ca small percentage of people who are stung by a bee or other insect develop anaphylaxis. It usually happens 15 minutes to an hour after the sting. Symptoms include rash, itching, trouble breathing, swollen tongue, trouble swallowing and tightness in the chest.\u201d<\/p>\n

An insider told The Mirror that Kapur \u201cwas full of life, laughing, joking, then gone in an instant.\u201d<\/p>\n

A friend of the billionaire businessman shared a statement with Telegraph Sport, saying, \u201cHe will be greatly missed not only by his family and friends but the local community around his club, as he employed so many people and made so many friends \u2014 he was fun, kind and generous. He didn\u2019t distinguish between his grooms or high net worth friends \u2014 when he had a party, everyone was invited and everyone was equal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, an automotive systems supplier and manufacturer. The company shared a statement on his death.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened by the sudden demise of our Chairman, Mr. Sunjay Kapur. He was a visionary leader whose passion, insight and dedication shaped the identity and success of our company,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

Hours before Kapur\u2019s death, he shared a post on X to mourn those who lost their lives in the Air India plane crash, which killed 241 passengers on board. The plane was headed for London\u2019s Gatwick Airport before it crashed just shortly after taking off in Ahmedabad, Western India. There was one survivor.<\/p>\n

\u201cTerrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. #planecrash,\u201d Kapur wrote on X in the early hours of Thursday, June 12.<\/p>\n

Kapur was previously married to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor<\/strong> from 2003 to 2016. They shared two children, daughter Samaira, 20, and son Kiaan, 14.
