Since then he crashed in Q1 at Imola, claimed 12th on the grid in Monaco but qualified last in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>His lap times have tended to be closer to those of team mate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/max-verstappen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Max Verstappen<\/a> in Friday practice sessions. Tsunoda ended practice today 15th, but within three-tenths of a second of his team mate.<\/p>\n<p>At times this year Tsunoda has been confused by his lack of pace despite feeling comfortable with his car\u2019s handling. He said \u201cthe feeling is okay\u201d after today\u2019s practice session and expects to go quicker on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know there\u2019s something coming for tomorrow which is good,\u201d said Tsunoda. \u201cThat will give hopefully a bit of lap time there, free lap time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tsunoda was not among the four drivers who took a fresh power unit for practice today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOther than that, I think it was good progress in terms of set-up,\u201d he added. \u201cObviously not enough in the end so let\u2019s find out and improve for tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-above-ad\">Advert | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/contribute-racefans\/racefans-supporter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While Verstappen has reached Q3 in every round this year and Tsunoda said he must join him this weekend. \u201cI definitely have to be in Q3,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s the target.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s see how it goes tomorrow. Like I said, there\u2019s something to come tomorrow, let\u2019s see how the behaviour [is] with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen said his car felt more comfortable in first practice, when he set the quickest time, than later in the day. \u201cToday was alright to be honest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn FP1 we felt quite happy in the car but FP2 was a bit more difficult for other reasons. There was a bit less balance and we felt a bit less comfortable in the car, which we need to investigate, but overall I think it was quite a positive day for us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we can get it back to what it felt in FP1 we will go well. Tomorrow for qualifying, let\u2019s see.
