Chris Davies has told his players to write their names into Birmingham City\u2019s<\/a> history by achieving a league and cup double.<\/p>\n

Blues wrapped up promotion on Tuesday by beating Peterborough United and a repeat result at Wembley will see them crowned Vertu Trophy champions.<\/p>\n

The current crop of Blues stars can emulate Barry Fry\u2019s team of 30 years ago and Davies<\/a> has tried to make sure that possibility hasn\u2019t been lost on his charges this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019ve tried to do is create a vision of where we\u2019re going and what\u2019s possible,\u201d said Davies. \u201cTo be a leader you\u2019ve got to be leading somewhere and going somewhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis competition was that. This is where we can go, this is what it can mean.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got a picture in one of the rooms (at the training ground) of the last time the club won it. It\u2019s a chance to make history and be remembered \u2013 not just another player and another team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they\u2019ve all bought into that and started getting excited by it.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is also a day for Blues\u2019 long-suffering supporters to enjoy. Blues haven\u2019t visited Wembley since 2011, when they won the Carling Cup, and had been on a downward spiral until last year.<\/p>\n

The 43,000-plus cheering Blues on at Wembley are hoping to witness the team\u2019s 40th win in its 54th game of the season.<\/p>\n

Speaking directly to the Blues faithful at his press conference on Thursday, Davies said: \u201cEnjoy the day. I said to the players that you have to cherish the good times in football, because there are quite literally ups and downs.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us to go down there with that amount of support is something we\u2019re going to really enjoy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club is together right now. The fans, the players, the staff, we\u2019ve got a togetherness and if you\u2019re together in football you\u2019ve got a great chance.\u201d<\/p>\n
