People travelling to Manchester this weekend have been advised to “plan ahead” as nearly 200,000 people are expected to arrive in the city.<\/p>\n

The weekend of June 14 and 15 has multiple huge events happening, drawing massive crowds with the inevitable strain on the public transport network.<\/p>\n

Parklife <\/a>will be getting underway in Heaton Park<\/a>, with passengers warned to expect delays in getting on and off trams at Heaton Park tram stop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile over at Old Trafford<\/a> the Soccer Aid match will be kicking off, drawing another huge crowd.<\/p>\n

But that’s not it, as concerts by Catfish and the Bottlemen as well as the recently-released Chris Brown are also expected to draw large numbers of people attending.<\/p>\n

The tram network is expected to be extremely busy over the weekend, particularly on the Bury<\/a> Line around Heaton Park.<\/p>\n

Network Rail also anticipates large numbers of people coming through Manchester Piccadilly over the weekend, and has advised people to plan their journey in advance.<\/p>\n

Margaret Edge, Manchester Piccadilly\u2019s station delivery manager, said: \u201cWe want to make sure everyone going to Parklife, Soccer Aid, and gigs across Manchester enjoys themselves, and we\u2019ll be here to make sure you can travel safely by train.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease plan your journey in advance and know when your last train is. The station will be closing overnight, so if you need to travel by train to get home, planning ahead on National Rail Enquiries is essential.\u201d<\/p>\n

National Rail said that that services are expected to be very busy, and that long queues to access platforms are also expected over the weekend.<\/p>\n

They have also advised passengers not to rely on later trains to get home as these are expected to be very busy and limited.<\/p>\n

Parklife Festival will be getting underway<\/a> over the weekend, including headliners 50 Cent and Charli XCX, as well as Jorja Smith, Rudimental, Confidence Man, Peggy Gou, Armand Van Helden, Bicep presents Chroma, Steve Angello and Joy Orbison also performing.<\/p>\n

Attendees at Parklife are set to pile onto the Metrolink<\/a>, with around 80,000 people expected to attend the festival over the weekend.<\/p>\n
