{"id":183031,"date":"2025-06-14T06:01:13","date_gmt":"2025-06-14T06:01:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/183031\/"},"modified":"2025-06-14T06:01:13","modified_gmt":"2025-06-14T06:01:13","slug":"trial-closure-plan-for-rat-run-road-in-birmingham-announced-amid-safety-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/183031\/","title":{"rendered":"Trial closure plan for \u2018rat-run\u2019 road in Birmingham announced amid safety concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham City Council <\/a>said speeding and dangerous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/news\/transport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">driving<\/a> were common issues in the Holt Road area of the city centre as motorists cut through to avoid the main Dartmouth island junction.<\/p>\n<p>It said increased activity was expected in the area now known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/news\/local-hubs\/birmingham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Knowledge Quarter with Aston University<\/a> expanding its premises.<\/p>\n<p>The authority said the development was likely to result in a significant rise in \u2018pedestrian movement\u2019 through the Holt Street junction and surrounding roads.<\/p>\n<p>It is introducing a trial closure of Holt Street at its junction with Lister Street from later this month.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/8089b473-9513-4c3a-8274-4fc5936888e7.PNG\"   alt=\"Holt Street at its junction with Lister Street in Birmingham city centre.
