On Thursday, ten years after being at the receiving end himself, he was arrested for allegedly duping multiple people with fake promises of jobs outside the country, the Delhi Police said.<\/p>\n
Jakir Daud Khan, police said, was associated with a firm identified as Fiza Placement Pvt. Limited in 2021. The company was allegedly involved in defrauding people with fake employment opportunities. However, both the company\u2019s and Jakir\u2019s alleged fraud came to light when a complaint was filed in September 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn September 2022, a complainant, Dharmendra<\/a> Kumar, lodged a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Delhi<\/a>, alleging that Fiza Placement Pvt. Ltd., based in Janakpuri, Delhi, defrauded him of Rs 90,000 for a fake Dubai job offer, providing a forged UAE visa, an invalid air ticket and retaining his passport. Over 80 similar complaints were filed with the EOW,\u201d said DCP (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik.<\/p>\n Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n According to the police, the probe revealed that the company, which was never registered with the Home Ministry, as mandated, defrauded multiple people, duping each person of anything between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.2 lakh. A total amount of Rs 88,87,800 was allegedly defrauded.<\/p>\n Following a spurt of complaints, the EOW then arrested several accused on December 16, 2022 \u2014 Arshad, Ram Anmol Thakur, Gulbhar Ali, and Shruti. Several passports, a pistol, Rs 2,55,000, and some devices were seized. Two more accused, Mohd. Saddam and Mohd. Tasleem was also nabbed later. But Daud Khan remained elusive and was declared a proclaimed offender in February 2024.<\/p>\n A week back, the Special Cell sleuths of the Delhi Police received a tip-off about his movement in Maharashtra. \u201cThe team worked discreetly and managed to extract the information confirming his presence in the area. However, after working further for a few days specific movement of the accused Jakir Daud was traced, and he was apprehended from Shor village of Padgha, Maharashtra,\u201d DCP Kaushik said.<\/p>\n Born and brought up in the Awarahi village in Uttar Pradesh, Khan\u2019s parents were farmers.
