He\u2019s in Horner\u2019s Red Bull line-up<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting by Thomas Maher<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/team\/red-bull\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Bull<\/a> have enjoyed two periods of dominance, with Sebastian Vettel kickstarting the first when he won a four-way fight for the Drivers\u2019 Championship title in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>He came from behind having never led the standings to beat Fernando Alonso, his Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber, and Lewis Hamilton to the title with a quartet separated by just 16 points.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to amass four World titles at Red Bull, the team matching his success in the Constructors\u2019 Championship.<\/p>\n<p>As the tides turned, and a new engine formula came into play, Red Bull lost out to Mercedes but rebounded in the very last season before F1 introduced all-new technical regulations, to dethrone Mercedes.<\/p>\n<p>Max Verstappen won his first of four World titles in F1 2021, denying seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton a record-breaking eighth championship in a tense wheel-to-wheel battle that, like Vettel\u2019s first, went down to the wire.<\/p>\n<p>The best of the best in Formula 1<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/f1-records-longest-points-scoring-streaks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F1 records: The drivers with the longest points-scoring streaks in history<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udc49<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/features\/highest-f1-race-wins-totals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F1 race wins: Which drivers have the highest win totals in F1 history?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And so began the Verstappen era as he led Red Bull to four Drivers\u2019 titles, and increased their teams\u2019 trophies to six.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no surprise that Horner bills Vettel and Verstappen as his ideal Red Bull Racing driver line-up.<\/p>\n<p>But when it comes to his choice of reserve, he\u2019ll take Daniel Ricciardo with his seven Red Bull wins ahead of Webber, who bagged eight in his seven seasons with the Milton Keynes team.<\/p>\n<p>And the team boss has absolutely no doubts about his selection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a no-brainer!\u201d Horner proclaimed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/christian-horner-exclusive-heart-and-soul-with-red-bull-after-20-years\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wide-ranging interview with PlanetF1.com\u2019s Thomas Maher<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMax and Sebastian with Daniel as your reserve and David Coulthard as your ambassador!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Horner isn\u2019t the only Red Bull higher-up who has sung Verstappen\u2019s praises in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Dutchman faces the very real prospect of losing the World title to McLaren, with Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris first and second in the Drivers\u2019 standings while Verstappen trails the Australian driver by 49 points, Helmut Marko believes the 27-year-old is the \u201cbest driver\u201d Red Bull has ever had.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe definitely is the best driver we have ever had,\u201d Marko told BBC\u2019s The Inside Track. \u201cHe\u2019s developing, developing [all the time], and in Imola, his third corner overtake was unbelievable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see the end of his progress yet.
