{"id":183557,"date":"2025-06-14T10:50:15","date_gmt":"2025-06-14T10:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/183557\/"},"modified":"2025-06-14T10:50:15","modified_gmt":"2025-06-14T10:50:15","slug":"watch-european-relations-important-to-richmond-post-brexit-says-council-leader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/183557\/","title":{"rendered":"WATCH: European relations important to Richmond post-Brexit says council leader\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Richmond\u2019s council leader Gareth Roberts has set out to show British people haven\u2019t turned their back on Europe in a post-Brexit world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The borough celebrated 65 years of its European partnerships with Konstanz in Germany and Fontainebleau in France on June 7 and 8, hosting more than 40 events for the public.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Roberts said the twinning relationships with the towns are especially important in today\u2019s political climate where there is a need to celebrate unity rather than division.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThere is far too much of an idea still going on that Britain has become narrow, has become insular, it\u2019s become inward-looking and we have not.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still outward looking.
