Two ducks swam side-by-side as if they were family members, but the sisters noticed a concerning difference between the birds.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201c[T]hey noticed a duck looking unusually larger than her mallard companion, swimming peacefully in the river,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/p\/Michigan-Duck-Rescue-and-Sanctuary-100064620251902\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary (MDRS)<\/a> wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid0vSxk8BRtm3UEp5AbAKj6tFse31aTCPfPZHLFJrHGVYyKazraPGXbARKozS3Ls9NRl&amp;id=100064620251902&amp;rdid=fygalW2oGXxkPnNa#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>. \u201cThey called us to see if this particular duck belonged in the wild.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1749910931_919_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"522\" height=\"696\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:522 \/ 696\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">When the experts at MDRS reviewed the photos, their hearts dropped instantly. One of the ducks was a wild mallard. But the other duck, all brown and significantly larger than the mallard, appeared to be a domestic species.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cOnce I saw the picture, I immediately asked if they could secure her,\u201d MDRS wrote. \u201cShe was a khaki Campbell domestic duck, [who] was no doubt dumped in the location she was at.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1749910933_144_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"1056\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 1056\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">As soon as they learned the brown duck didn\u2019t belong in the wild, they did everything to try to coax her out of the water. But sadly, the duck, later named Frida, was too nervous to trust them.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cThe scariest part is this poor girl wanted to be saved but was uneasy,\u201d Jessica commented on the Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">But the sisters refused to give up. They continued trying to lure the duck out of the water and eventually jumped in when they realized she was in trouble.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"3\">\u201cShe dove underwater at a point and didn\u2019t come up for a whole minute,\u201d Jessica wrote. \u201cMe and Kimberly were frantically trying to find out where she was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1749910933_263_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"792\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 792\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Within seconds, they discovered the reason why Frida was stuck underwater.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cShe ended up getting her neck wrapped around a branch underwater,\u201d Jessica wrote.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"2\">Thankfully, Jessica and Kimberly were close enough to help free Frida from the branch. They worried she might have been injured while underwater, but as soon as she reached the surface, she was just as energized as ever.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"3\">\u201cShe immediately realized the end goal,\u201d Jessica wrote.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"4\">You can see more images from Frida\u2019s rescue here:<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">When they finally reached the shore, the sisters scooped up Frida and carried her to their car. Once in the car, the relieved duck placed her head on her rescuer\u2019s shoulders and snuggled into her for a gratitude-filled hug.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1749910934_123_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"1056\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 1056\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">The trio soon arrived at MDRS, where Matthew Lyson and his wife, Theresa, were waiting for Frida. They welcomed her with open arms, giving her a full evaluation and serving her the biggest meal she\u2019d had in days.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cShe ate for what seemed like 10 minutes straight, poor angel,\u201d MDRS wrote.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1749910935_618_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  width=\"792\" height=\"1056\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 1056\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">It\u2019s been a month since Frida\u2019s rescue, and she\u2019s thriving with the other ducks at MDRS.
