Individual council funds can open and close at different times of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/birmingham-city-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham City Council<\/a> is now preparing to launch its summer phase of funding, and is offering \u00a3200 grants to those that meet the criteria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Anyone can apply for support but those judged to be most in need of urgent help will be prioritised.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">This will include people struggling to afford basic essentials like food and energy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/whats-on\/join-free-money-saving-whatsapp-31225019\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"[object Object]Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Join our Free Money Saving WhatsApp community for the latest updates<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Households don&#8217;t have to be claiming benefits to apply. People may be turned down if they have received HSF cash over the previous 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Birmingham Voluntary Council Service (BVCS), which helps the city council distribute the cash, issued an update saying: &#8220;Please be advised that enquiries will reopen in late June 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;If you are not currently on the waiting list, and it has now been 12 months since your household last received a grant payment, you will be able to submit a new enquiry once the scheme reopens in late June 2025.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Government says: &#8220;You may be able to get help with essential costs from your local council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;This is sometimes known as the Household Support Fund.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;This could help if you\u2019re struggling to afford things like: energy and water bills; food; essential items<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Your council may also offer food vouchers to families during the school holidays.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Funding is aimed at anyone who\u2019s vulnerable or cannot pay for essentials.
