{"id":184267,"date":"2025-06-14T17:12:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-14T17:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/184267\/"},"modified":"2025-06-14T17:12:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-14T17:12:09","slug":"watch-this-space-fernando-alonso-alpine-f1-paddock-rumour-emerges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/184267\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Watch this space\u2019 Fernando Alonso-Alpine F1 paddock rumour emerges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>David Croft has shared a paddock rumour linking Fernando Alonso with a shock return to the Alpine F1 team.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/1\/fernando-alonso\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alonso<\/a>, who left Alpine at the end of 2022 to join Aston Martin on a multi-year contract which expires at the end of the 2026 season, has been spotted making several visits to his former team\u2019s hospitality at the Canadian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sky Sports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F1<\/a> commentator Croft, the 43-year-old Spaniard has been into the Alpine motorhome \u201cfour times\u201d during the course of the weekend in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere there\u2019s an Alpine story about driver movement there\u2019s a Fernando Alonso rumour as well,\u201d Croft shared during Sky Sports F1\u2019s coverage of final practice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose rumours once again surfacing this morning in the paddock. Fernando Alonso has been into the Alpine motorhome four times during the course of this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s not just to see his old mate Flav [Briatore], even though his mum and dad are in town and I\u2019m sure they\u2019ve been having a bit of a catch up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs something going on that could see Fernando Alonso back at Enstone again for a fourth time? Watch this space on that one, that\u2019s just the paddock rumour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alonso won both of his world championships with the Enstone team in 2005 and 2006 under Flavio Briatore\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n<p>He returned to the team in 2008 after a single season with McLaren and had a third stint with the French squad following their Alpine rebrand when he returned to F1 following a sabbatical from the sport.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Colapinto \u2018fighting for his future\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The rumour comes with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?client=safari&amp;rls=en&amp;q=franco+colapinto+crash.net&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Franco Colapinto<\/a> already coming under pressure to hold onto his seat having endured three disappointing grands prix for the team since being parachuted in to replace Jack Doohan.<\/p>\n<p>Speculation about Colapinto\u2019s future has been sparked by recent comments from Briatore, who said there was &#8220;no set limit\u201d to how many races the Argentine would contest.<\/p>\n<p>2016 F1 world champion Nico Rosberg said Colapinto is \u201cfighting for his future\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe really needs to find his Williams form,\u201d Rosberg said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year he was doing so well. It\u2019s possible.
