With a capacity of just over 5,000, Dewsbury’s Flair Stadium finally achieved what Huddersfield have missed this year, and that’s hearing their supporters. Whilst playing in a modern stadium like the John Smith’s might have better facilities off the field, Dewsbury was rocking from the very beginning of the match. If chairman Ken Davy gets his way, an eight to ten-thousand-seater stadium could be the perfect size for the Giants in a new home, hopefully with a full-sized pitch.

Warriors getting the job done

In the dying seconds of the game and with the last play of the game, they somehow managed to pinch the victory from Huddersfield’s grasp. It looked like the Giants would be on their way to just their second win of the Super League season, but Jack Farrimond scored in the corner in the final play of the match to snatch the win. A champion side knows how to play for a full eighty minutes. Whilst it was far from a perfect performance, two points on the board is better than none.

More injury problems for Huddersfield

Just as the Giants are starting to get some troops back, another seems to drop out of the fold. With Adam Swift’s injury announced midweek, halfback Adam Clune limped off during the second half. Everything that’s looked good in Huddersfield’s attack has come through his combinations with Tui Lolohea. He’d be a massive miss if it’s a serious injury. Joe Greenwood also went off following a tackle from Adam Keighran. It looked like he might have a hip issue. Luckily, Tristan Powell and George King passed their HIAs and returned to the field.

Wigan looking below par

Wigan pushing at 60% was still enough to claim the victory. However, their performance was below par across the board today. Their attack showed glimpses, but wasn’t as clinical as it usually is. Harry Smith’s kicking game is much more suited to a larger pitch than Dewsbury’s more compact one. Coach Matt Peet might be more disappointed with their defence, though. Whilst Huddersfield didn’t have a lot of significant field position, whenever they did, they managed to find gaps across Wigan’s defensive line.

Jack Farrimond wins it at the death for the Warriors 😲#SuperLeague pic.twitter.com/XCQSRlkL3O

— Betfred Super League (@SuperLeague) June 14, 2025

The first Super League game on Saturday’s double-header saw Huddersfield Giants and Wigan Warriors face off at Dewsbury’s…

[4102
4151,79,16,15
0":"post-184433","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-rugby","8":"tag-rugby","9":"tag-sports","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
