Jake Paul has made a habit out of targeting prominent UFC names, but Francis Ngannou said he\u2019d be best avoiding one brutal knockout artist.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Much of Paul\u2019s<\/a> journey in boxing<\/a> has seen him feuding with figures from across the combat sports pond, much to the dismay of those hoping to see him regularly face active boxers close to his age.<\/p>\n

Thus far, \u2018The Problem Child\u2019 has shared the ring with five ex-UFC stars. Most notably, Paul knocked out former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley<\/a>, outpointed the legendary Anderson Silva, and comfortably got the better of Nate Diaz.<\/p>\n

Given that trend, and the attention it brings him, it\u2019s unsurprising that Paul hasn\u2019t let up with his callouts of MMA names.<\/p>\n

One of his more recent ones, however, may have crossed the line from ambitious to death wish\u2026<\/p>\n

After defeating former UFC fighter-turned-BKFC star Mike Perry in July 2024, Paul made a bold callout of then-UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Israel Adesanya, Jiri Prochazka, Jamahal Hill, Sean Strickland, and Khalil Rountree have all fallen to the Brazilian\u2019s renowned power in the Octagon, but the YouTuber-turned-boxer fancied his chances in the ring.<\/p>\n

While interviewing Francis Ngannou<\/a>, one of Pereira\u2019s fellow MMA powerhouses, on his podcast, Paul was strongly advised against pursuing \u2018Poatan\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Pereira\u2019s) tough, he has some tough hands,\u201d Ngannou said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think you\u2019re going to get some tough nights. I mean, he\u2019s a big size guy, Alex.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s your weight right now? 215 (pounds). Come on, man,\u201d Ngannou added. \u201cThis guy is big, solid, and he\u2019s mean.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe walks straight to you like, \u2018I\u2019m gonna eat this guy.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

What Alex Pereira said about fighting Jake Paul<\/p>\n

Moments after being called out in July 2024, Pereira got on FaceTime with Paul<\/a> and teased a potential crossover clash against the Cleveland native.<\/p>\n

But the Brazilian told Bloody Elbow in the lead-up to his most recent UFC fight that any talk of a boxing match with Paul was purely to garner publicity. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think that was more for the media, for the hype,\u201d Pereira said of the pair\u2019s run-in last summer. \u201cI don\u2019t necessarily know if that makes a lot of sense. Maybe for an exhibition match or something like that.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut honestly I\u2019m on another level, granted he is a boxer now. He\u2019s a guy that trains boxing but I just feel like I\u2019m different, on a different level.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
