Whether you are getting a taxi from the airport to your hotel or while you&#8217;re out and about, it is best to check the vehicle you are getting into.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The UK Foreign Office, which provides<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/all-about\/travel-advice\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" travel adviceLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> travel advice<\/a> on its website, says you should only use official registered or licensed taxis, or reputable firms. Using an unlicensed taxi could land you with a fine of up to 600 euros, which is the equivalent of around \u00a3511.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/foreign-travel-advice\/spain\/safety-and-security\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" Government department warns:Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Government department warns:<\/a> &#8220;Only use official registered or licensed taxis, or reputable transport companies you recognise. Licensing regulations differ across <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/all-about\/spain-travel\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Spain Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain <\/a>and in certain cities pre-booking is required.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Passengers caught using unlicensed taxi services are liable for fines of up to 600 euros. Make sure you book your taxi or airport transfer through a licensed firm.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Foreign Office also has other useful advice for people travelling to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/all-about\/spain\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"SpainLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a>. For example, there are certain alcohol laws and bans in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It says: &#8220;It\u2019s illegal to drink alcohol in the street in some areas of Spain. You can get an on-the-spot fine. There are strict controls on drinking and sexual activity in public places, including on beaches.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alcohol rules in the Balearic Islands<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And if you are going to any <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/all-about\/travel\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"tourist Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">tourist <\/a>spots in the Balearic Islands, it&#8217;s important to know that local laws limit the sale and availability of alcohol in areas of some resorts. These include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Magaluf (Calvi\u00e0), Mallorca<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Playa de Palma, Mallorca<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">San Antonio (San Antoni de Portmany), Ibiza<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The rules ban:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">happy hours<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">open bars (such as \u2018all you can drink in one hour\u2019 offers)<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">the sale of alcohol from vending machines<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">self-service alcohol dispensers<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">organising pub crawls and party boat trips<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">\u2018off-licence\u2019 sales between 9:30pm and 8am<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Hotels and other establishments will evict you if you behave dangerously on balconies.
