He was later diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and had his leg amputated in 2022 after fighting three bouts of sepsis and being resuscitated twice.<\/p>\n
Following his career in the Air Force, he went on to become a PHD neuroscience student as well as a rugby coach for LGBT Liverpool Tritons rugby team.<\/p>\n
Nathanael explained on the BBC show: “My research is on chronic pain and how to cure it without using opioids.”<\/p>\n
In a tribute to Nathanael, the show aired a picture of him riding a horse in a cowboy hat with the words: “1985 – 2025.”<\/p>\n
Following the news of his death in April, Liverpool Tritons RUFC shared a touching tribute to the coach.<\/p>\n
It read: “It is with deep sadness that Liverpool Tritons RUFC announces the passing of our dear friend, former player, and coach, Nathanael Hill \u2013 known to many simply as Nate.<\/p>\n
“Nate was a cherished member of the Tritons for several years.<\/p>\n
“As both a formidable player on the pitch and a passionate, dedicated coach off it, Nate brought skill, heart, and a contagious enthusiasm to everything he did.<\/p>\n
“His commitment to inclusive rugby and to our community helped shape the club into what it is today.<\/p>\n
“More than his achievements in the game, Nate will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humour, and the unwavering support he showed to teammates, new players, and friends alike.<\/p>\n
“His loss will be felt deeply across the club and far beyond.<\/p>\n
“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Nate\u2019s family, loved ones, and all those whose lives he touched.<\/p>\n
“He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
