An award-winning four-bedroom new-build in the Berkshire<\/a> countryside has hit the market asking \u00a32.25m. Designed by London-based architect Jake Edgley <\/a>and completed in 2020, Split House has won several RIBA London awards, as well as \u2018Best Contemporary-style Self Build\u2019 from the Telegraph Homebuilding and Renovating Awards. It sits within deep lawns with a wide wraparound terrace that stretches towards established meadows and the Chilterns<\/a> National Landscape beyond.<\/p>\n

The house comprises two timber-clad barn-like structures, designed to complement the surrounding topography. They\u2019re joined by a slanting glass double-height atrium, reached past a pivoting front door. One volume contains an open-plan living and dining area with exposed stone and brick walls, concrete floors and generous dimensions. A brick fireplace, fitted with a log-burner, faces the sitting room and backs onto an L-shaped birch kitchen with integrated appliances and a breakfast bar. An adjacent snug has the same white timber-clad walls as the dining area.<\/p>\n

An oak-clad staircase in the atrium ascends to the first-floor bedrooms. The principal bedroom has a vertical window to the garden, a bank of built-in birch wardrobes and an en suite shower room. Two other bedrooms have built-in wardrobes and desks; all four have newly fitted carpet. The main bathroom is finished with a walk-in shower and bath, with sand-coloured tiles on the floor<\/p>\n

Overhanging roofs evoke Californian case study homes and shade the terraces below, which flow easily from the main living spaces.<\/p>\n
