A UK law change from the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/labour-party\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Labour Party<\/a> government has promised to cut red tape and allow households to install EV chargers at home easily.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Ohme\u2019s CEO David Watson said \u201cat present around 80 per cent of EV drivers charge their cars at home or at work, so anything that helps to make that easier \u2013 such as today\u2019s government announcement \u2013 is very welcome.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe applaud this DfT announcement, which will make home and workplace chargers more accessible for more drivers, in turn helping them to save on their everyday motoring costs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/whats-on\/shopping\/uk-households-warned-over-supermarket-31838802\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">READ MORE Households warned over supermarket item which has left 95 ill and 58 in hospital<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Mandy Simpson, founder of Simpson &amp; Partners, said, &#8220;We welcome the government&#8217;s proactive steps to simplify and accelerate the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. By addressing planning and grid connection challenges it paves the way for a more accessible and efficient EV charging network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Delvin Lane, CEO of public charging company InstaVolt, said, \u201cWe are supportive of the Government acting proactively and moving in a positive direction. Anything that helps remove barriers to EV adoption and gives all drivers confidence in the infrastructure &#8211; helping remove range anxiety &#8211; is a strong move in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And Jack Cousens, head of roads policy at the AA said: \u201cWith a target of 300,000 publicly available chargers by 2030, government should be doing all it can to help reach this milestone. Removing the planning rules is a positive step and will help accelerate installations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;The crucial element is ensuring grid connection in a timely manner.
