However, trouble ensues when a father and his son leave the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Fans have been waiting for Boyle to return to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/whats-on\/film-news\/real-life-story-behind-28-30560748\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">series <\/a>for years, with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directing the first sequel 28 Weeks later in 2007.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">With Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes leading the new venture, now is the perfect time to visit where everything started.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">28 Days later stars Cillian Murphy as a bicycle courier who awakens from a coma to discover that that society has collapsed, with zombies roaming the Brendan Gleeson in supporting roles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Kicking off the 21st century zombie revival, the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/film\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">film <\/a>was applauded for capturing the lengths the world will go to survive in the face of evil.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Boyle famously closed the streets of London to transform typically busy areas into a shell of their former selves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Boasting a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film grossed a staggering $84.6 million worldwide on a budget of $8 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Despite being one of the most famous horror movies of all time, 28 Days Later has been missing from streaming for a number of years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It is believed that when Disney lost the rights to the series to Sony, they were unable to stream it on Disney+ anymore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">On top of this, 28 Days Later has become difficult to find on DVD and Blu-ray due to going out of print a number of years ago, with expensive second hand copies being sold online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">With lots of people looking to catch up on the original outing before heading to the cinema, it&#8217;s time to have a quiet night in and prepare to get scared.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">28 Days Later airs on Sunday, June 15, on BBC One and on the BBC
