It would see the bloc impose a 25 percent duty on a wide range of U.S. exports, including soybeans, sweet corn, rice, almonds, orange juice, cranberries, tobacco, iron, steel, aluminum, certain boats and vehicles, textiles and certain clothes, and various types of makeup.<\/p>\n<p>The total amount of U.S. exports affected would be \u20ac22.1 billion based on the EU\u2019s 2024 imports, according to public Eurostat figures. That\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/y3r710.r.eu-west-1.awstrack.me\/L0\/https:%2F%2Fdmp.politico.eu%2F%3Femail=cgijs@politico.eu%26destination=https:%2F%2Fpro.politico.eu%2Fnews%2F195369\/1\/0102019611b527c6-767882f8-684f-4963-91a3-f66f65790dd9-000000\/1tdfRdd7R-tU9BrNXIw3iCZPQRs=420\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">less than originally intended<\/a>\u00a0after EU countries lobbied to remove items \u2014 like Kentucky bourbon \u2014 from the original hit list. That was a victory for France, Ireland, Italy and Spain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enough is enough\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Countries such as France, Germany and Spain have led calls for the bloc not to take any options off the table in dealing with the U.S. president.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne also has to look closely at [the Anti-Coercion Instrument],\u201d Germany\u2019s outgoing Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on his way into Monday\u2019s meeting. \u201cThese are measures that go far beyond customs policy. They have a broad palette.
