{"id":186547,"date":"2025-06-15T14:25:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-15T14:25:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/186547\/"},"modified":"2025-06-15T14:25:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-15T14:25:09","slug":"emma-raducanu-gets-tearful-as-she-meets-one-of-her-biggest-fans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/186547\/","title":{"rendered":"Emma Raducanu gets tearful as she meets one of her biggest fans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emma Raducanu struggled to contain her emotions as she met one of her biggest fans at the LTA\u2019s National Tennis Centre in London.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Raducanu\u2019s<\/a> 2021 US Open win was a moment of huge inspiration for young girls around the world, with the legacy of her victory continuing to reverberate almost four years later.<\/p>\n<p>The story of Raducanu becoming the first player to come through qualifying and win a Grand Slam title is one of the great fairy tales of modern sport and after young Joanie Melady spoke about her admiration for Emma during a BBC interview two years ago, the governing body for tennis in Britain set up a very special moment for the tennis loving youngster.<\/p>\n<p>Joanie captured hearts across the UK when she appeared on BBC Breakfast after winning a tournament while playing with a prosthetic arm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In that interview, she spoke about her love for Raducanu and shortly before she played at the brand new WTA 500 tournament at the Queen\u2019s Club, Joanie\u2019s dream came true as she got a chance to hit some balls with her idol.<\/p>\n<p>More Tennis News<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/emma-raducanu-huge-injury-scare-queens-rankings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emma Raducanu suffers huge injury scare as Queen\u2019s Club run is ended<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/emma-raducanu-reveals-big-fears-top-10-rivals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emma Raducanu makes alarming confession as she admits her \u2018goals have changed\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Joanie didn\u2019t have to wait long to see Raducanu after she was greeted by Lee Myers, Tennis Operations Manager at the National Tennis Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu was practising on the indoor courts and Joanie was excited to see her hitting balls with her coaching team.<\/p>\n<p>Her day then got even better as she was joined on court by Raducanu, who was clearly touched by her meeting with Joanie.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be able to get on court with Joanie and just feel that genuine love for the game and love for playing tennis is really precious,\u201d said Raducanu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom her perspective, she\u2019s going after what she wants to do. If she wants to play tennis, she\u2019s going to do it no matter how. I could learn from that from Joanie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer confidence is incredible.
