Bryan Mbeumo previously expressed his desire to compete in the “biggest competitions” and play for “the best clubs”, amids interest from Manchester United<\/a> and Tottenham. Following a stellar 20-goal season in the Premier League<\/a>, the Brentford forward is poised for a summer transfer.<\/p>\n The 25-year-old has just completed his most successful campaign at Brentford, having joined from French club Troyes six years ago for a then-record fee of \u00a35.8 million. Mbeumo finds himself at the centre of attention with bids from both Manchester United and Spurs.<\/p>\n Earlier in the month, it appeared that Mbeumo was United-bound<\/a>, with reports indicating he had ‘prioritised’ a move to Old Trafford<\/a>. But Tottenham’s interest has thrown a spanner in the works, with his Brentford manager Thomas Frank having taken charge at Spurs.<\/p>\n The Danish coach is keen on taking Mbeumo with him to North London after replacing Ange Postecoglou, despite Spurs’ defeat of United in the Europa League<\/a> final.<\/p>\n Tottenham lodged a \u00a370m bid for Mbeumo this week – after United’s first offer of \u00a345m plus another \u00a310m in add-ons was rejected.<\/a> There have been reports since claiming that Mbeumo is now ‘more open’ to remaining in London, and remarks from the player last May may give an insight into the player’s thinking, reports the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n Interest in Mbeumo emerged strongly back in the summer of 2024 after a season in which he netted nine league goals,<\/a> drawing the attention of Liverpool<\/a> and Newcastle United.<\/p>\n In response to speculation about a move to another Premier League club, Mbeumo told L’Equipe at the time: “I have spent five years at Brentford, at a club that has allowed me to grow and pass a milestone but yes, I would like to play in the biggest competitions, at the best clubs. It is tantalising to see some big clubs interested in me.”<\/p>\n While United are facing a season without European football due to finishing 15th, Tottenham will be playing in the Champions League<\/a> after their victory over Ruben Amorim’s side in the Europa League final.<\/p>\n But United finished narrowly above Tottenham in the Premier League table.<\/p>\n
