Jannik Sinner is set to play his first match since the French Open final at the Halle Open, where he\u2019ll play a qualifier in the first round. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Sinner\u2019s defeat to Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> was his first loss in a Grand Slam final, having emerged victorious in his last three finals appearances.<\/p>\n

The ATP<\/a> number one was agonisingly close to securing a maiden Roland Garros<\/a> crown, but was overcome by the defiant Spaniard, who came back from two sets down to win it all.<\/p>\n

In his triumph, Alcaraz joined Novak Djokovic and Gaston Gaudio<\/a> as the only men in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam final after facing a match point.<\/p>\n

It was a tough loss for the Italian to take against his rival, who he discussed ahead of his title defence in Halle. <\/p>\n

Speaking to Tennis TV<\/a> ahead of the Halle Open, Sinner<\/a> said of Alcaraz<\/a>: \u201cAt the end of the day, we are rivals, but we still have a great relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe saw this in the past, that you can be rivals but still friends, and this is what we try to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last six majors was me and Carlos, but things can change very quickly. The new generation is coming in, there\u2019s still Sascha playing incredible tennis, I believe Daniil will come back again strong.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith me and Carlos, I practice to understand what\u2019s working with certain players and what\u2019s not.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe in Paris, I was very close, not only results-wise, but also the level was there. Enjoying that level on clay, I hope it\u2019s going to give me the confidence to keep going.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we [Alcaraz and I] are important, but as important as any other players. I don\u2019t think only two players make the difference. There are 128 players in a Grand Slam, who make the sport very tough.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think me and Carlos, we are very happy to be in the position we are in.\u201d<\/p>\n

After his French Open run, Wimbledon<\/a> is now the only Grand Slam that Sinner has never made the final of. <\/p>\n

His best campaign was a semi-final finish in 2023, where he lost to Djokovic<\/a> in straight sets.<\/p>\n

After beating Yannick Hanfmann in round one, he defeated former Wimbledon finalist and compatriot Matteo Berrettini. <\/p>\n

He then swept aside Miomir Kecmanovic before earning another statement win against 14th seed Ben Shelton<\/a>. <\/p>\n
