Greek media is reporting that the Greek selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 could feature semi-finals.<\/p>\n

According to iEidiseis, ERT, the Greek national broadcaster, is planning several changes for its selection for Eurovision 2026. The first change is that the song submission window will open earlier this year. For Ethnik\u00f3s Telik\u00f3s 2025, the song submission window was open from October 18, 2024 to November 10, 2024.<\/p>\n

ERT is also reportedly planning to expand the number of shows in Ethnik\u00f3s Telik\u00f3s. Instead of one show, the selection would consist of two semi-finals and a final, all of which would be held over a \u201cEurovision Week\u201d. It is also reported that Fokas Evangelinos will remain as artistic director for the selection and that Klavdia, this year\u2019s Greek representative, will also play a role in the selection process.<\/p>\n

Full details of the Greek selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be revealed at a later date.<\/p>\n

Klavdia represented Greece at Eurovision 2025 with \u201cAsteromata\u201d. She secured Greece\u2019s best result in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2013, by placing 6th in the final, scoring 231 points. Greece was 8th with the public and juries and received 12 points from the juries of Australia, Cyprus, Israel and Montenegro, and 12 points from the televoters of Albania, Cyprus and San Marino.<\/p>\n

Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest<\/p>\n

Greece debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, when they were represented by Marinella and the song \u201cKrasi, thalassa kai t\u2019agori mou\u201d, which finished in 11th place with 7 points. Three years later, Greece earned their first top 5 finish with Paschalis, Marianna, Robert, and Bessy, who finished in 5th place with \u201cMathima solfege\u201d. In 2001, Greece achieved their first top 3 placing with Antique and the song \u201cI Would Die For You\u201d. The song became a European hit and charted across the continent. In 2005, Helena Paparizou returned to the Eurovision stage as a solo artist and brought Greece their first, and to date only, victory. Her song \u201cMy Number One\u201d won with 230 points, beating runners-up Malta by 38 points. <\/p>\n
