Credit: Alan SimpsonCredit: Alan Simpson<\/p>\n Paramedics<\/a> raced to the scene but couldn\u2019t move the woman so a Coastguard chopper from Prestwick was brought in to winch the walker<\/a> to a waiting ambulance.<\/p>\n As well as the helicopter a lifeboat also raced to the scene. \u201cThen I saw the ambulance crews and Coastguard teams walking across to the island.<\/p>\n \u201cAs I got closer to the helicopter I watched as the helicopter winched someone in a stretcher.<\/p>\n \u201cThey then landed on the beach and the paramedics went in and moved the woman to an ambulance.\u201d<\/p>\n Several emergency response vehicles were parked at the end of the causeway that leads to the island as rescuers dealt with the emergency.\u00a0<\/p>\n It\u2019s understood the walker did not suffer serious injuries.<\/p>\n Cramond Island can be reached by low tide via a causeway. However, once high tide arrives, people on the tidal island no longer have a safe passage back to the mainland and get stuck on the island, or on the causeway.<\/p>\n In recent years the RNLI have launched campaigns to make people aware of the dangers.\u00a0<\/p>\n Volunteers at RNLI lifeboat stations based at Queensferry and Kinghorn, Fife typically respond to call outs at Cramond Causeway.<\/p>\n In 2024, Queensferry RNLI Lifeboat Station launched 81 times, aiding 130 people caught in difficulty in the water, and Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat Station launched 58 times, saving 2 lives and aiding 31 people.<\/p>\n A spokesperson from HM Coastguard said: \u201cWe attended to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n \u201cAs well as a Lifeboat from Kinghorn we tasked a mobile rescue team and a rescue helicopter from Prestwick.<\/p>\n \u201cWe recovered the casualty to an ambulance.\u201d<\/p>\n The Scottish Ambulance Service was approached for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"AN INJURED walker had to be airlifted off a Scots beauty spot after falling and injuring herself.
