Arsenal are in \u2018advanced talks\u2019 over signing a new striker as a fresh report has revealed sporting director Andrea Berta\u2019s \u2018plan\u2019 in an \u2018unusual approach\u2019.<\/p>\n
The Gunners<\/strong><\/a> are crying out for a new striker after they failed to sign a forward in the previous two transfer windows.<\/p>\n Arsenal were punished for overlooking their need to sign a striker during the 2024\/25 campaign as injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz left head coach Mikel Arteta<\/strong><\/a> without a recognised No.9 during the run-in.<\/p>\n The Premier League giants are aware that they cannot go another window without signing a striker as they look to bridge the gap to champions Liverpool, who won the title with four games remaining.\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Arsenal are also targeting signings in other positions, but their top priority is to sign a striker and they are stepping up their efforts to acquire a No.9.<\/p>\n READ:\u00a0Ten players in the Club World Cup shop window for Premier League scouts<\/a> Last summer, Arsenal made Benjamin Sesko their top target and missed out on the RB Leipzig star after he decided to commit to the Bundesliga outfit for another year, while they targeted Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins during the recent winter window.<\/p>\n In recent months, 2025 top scorer in Europe contender Viktor Gyokeres<\/strong><\/a> has emerged as another option and it remains to be seen who the Gunners will end up signing.<\/p>\n A new report from The Mirror claims<\/a> Gyokeres, Sesko and Watkins are the \u2018three strikers\u2019 on Arsenal\u2019s radar as they \u2018stage their own beauty pageant\u2019.<\/p>\n The Gunners are \u2018working hard behind-the-scenes\u2019 to sign an \u2018elite\u2019 striker and are \u2018actively pursuing\u2019 Gyokeres and Sesko, while Watkins is \u2018still on their radar\u2019.<\/p>\n MORE ARSENAL COVERAGE ON F365\u2026 Arsenal \u2018do not plan to sign two strikers\u2019, but Berta is \u2018keeping his options open\u2019 and has held \u2018advanced discussions\u2019 over signing Gyokeres and Sesko.<\/p>\n The report has also commented on Berta\u2019s \u2018unusual approach\u2019. They explain:<\/p>\n \u2018It is an unusual approach to keep different players in the mix but Berta has a strong reputation and is under big pressure to deliver the right striker. A big factor for Arsenal is being able to land a top name striker but also have more money to spend on other targets with Real Sociedad\u2019s Martin Zubimendi set to arrive for \u00a351m.<\/p>\n But one player unlikely to be going is Riccardo Calafiori after AC Milan made an enquiry \u2013 but they were rebuffed by Arsenal and the Italy defender also wants to stay in London.
