{"id":188874,"date":"2025-06-16T11:38:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T11:38:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/188874\/"},"modified":"2025-06-16T11:38:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T11:38:11","slug":"focused-on-work-to-recover-from-disappointing-canadian-gp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/188874\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cFocused on work\u201d to recover from disappointing Canadian GP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/charles-leclerc\/109611\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles Leclerc<\/a> admitted his weekend at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/location\/circuit-gilles-villeneuve\/75\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Grand Prix<\/a> was far from perfect, but insisted he\u2019s not looking to \u201cprove anybody wrong.\u201d The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/team\/ferrari\/3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ferrari<\/a> driver, who finished P5, wasn\u2019t happy with the team\u2019s strategy calls throughout the \u201cfrustrating\u201d race around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are a little bit on the back foot, but that\u2019s more to do with the starting position than the actual pace, because the pace wasn&#8217;t too bad,\u201d Leclerc told reporters on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m frustrated that I didn&#8217;t put everything together, but apart from that, [nothing] really affects me,\u201d he went on, seemingly referencing the heated radio messages exchanged with his race engineer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the team knows where I stand and knows what I want to do. That&#8217;s what matters most to me,\u201d he said. It comes a couple of days after speculation swirled that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/f1\/news\/ferrari-f1-boss-vasseur-criticises-italian-media-after-recent-speculation\/10732426\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">team boss Fred Vasseur\u2019s future at the team<\/a> was in doubt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would rather just focus on our work,\u201d Leclerc continued. \u201cWe&#8217;re not here to try and prove anybody wrong. We&#8217;re just trying to do our job the best we possibly can, and we&#8217;ll be happy if we do it. We didn&#8217;t exactly do everything right this weekend, so I&#8217;m looking forward to the next race to try and turn that situation around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>   <img decoding=\"async\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1750073891_534_charles-leclerc-ferrari.jpg\" alt=\"Charles Leclerc, Ferrari\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">Charles Leclerc, Ferrari<\/p>\n<p class=\"photographer\">Photo by: Glenn Dunbar \/ Motorsport Images<\/p>\n<p>Vasseur also addressed Leclerc\u2019s strategy concerns, telling reporters that it was simply \u201ctoo optimistic\u201d to do a 50-lap stint on one set of tyres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI discussed it with Charles after the race. He\u2019s right that we don\u2019t have that much to lose when you are behind the pack. We can take some risks.\u201d However, he conceded that the team was \u201cprobably missing some laps\u00a0during the weekend to estimate it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Monegasque\u00a0missed the second practice session in Montreal after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/f1\/news\/leclerc-out-for-f1-canadian-gp-friday-practice-day-after-fp1-crash\/10732380\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">a crash in FP1 left him with chassis damage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Leclerc was leading opening practice when he locked up into Turn 3 and under steered into the grass on the outside. He hit the wall, damaging the front-left corner of his car. The incident prompted a red flag, and he ultimately ended the session in 10th.<\/p>\n<p>It was followed by a poor qualifying session, in which he finished P8 despite his belief that he was in the fight for pole position.
