When the sun is shining, there’s something special about taking the kids to the beach<\/a>.<\/p>\n They can’t wait to dig the sand, build sandcastles and have fun with friends, new and old.<\/p>\n But, being in landlocked Birmingham<\/a>, our nearest beach is probably Weston-Super-Mare<\/a>, which is 100 miles away and a good two-hour journey, traffic permitting.<\/p>\n Read more: Summer 2025 things to do in and around Birmingham<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Read next: 13 beaches within easy reach of Birmingham that you’ll want to visit this summer<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n So, we love it when we hear that manmade beaches are opening around the city for families to enjoy over the school holidays.<\/p>\n New Square Shopping Centre in West Bromwich<\/a> has hosted a beach for many years and keeps it free for kids to play.<\/p>\n There are buckets and spades on the golden sands and deckchairs for parents<\/a> and grandparents to relax whilst the little ones have fun.<\/p>\n Listen to our special relaxation podcast<\/a> for when you need a little headspace:<\/p>\n When is the manmade beach opening in West Bromwich?<\/p>\n New Square Beach is opening in time for the summer holidays.<\/p>\n It will launch on July 21 and run right through to August 30 at the shopping centre.<\/p>\n Every day throughout the school holidays<\/a>, visitors can head over there for free to enjoy a sandy beach and, hopefully, a bit of sunshine.<\/p>\n And, there will be free extra activities throughout the holidays for families.
