\"Metal<\/a><\/p>\n

Widely considered to one of the absolute best games in the Metal Gear series, we’re just over a couple of months away from the return of Snake Eater. This remake may not have Hideo Kojima’s name attached to it, but outside of some new multiplayer shenanigans, Konami and Virtuos are sticking as close to the original vision as possible \u2014 and surely that’s for the best.<\/p>\n

We’re not surprised to see Delta shoot so high on this list; the power of nostalgia should never be underestimated \u2014 especially when the original release is so beloved.<\/p>\n

\"Mafia<\/a><\/p>\n

Promising to ditch the open world busywork that bogged down Mafia 3<\/a>, Mafia: The Old Country is set to be a story-driven banger. The hope is that by scaling back its scope, this long awaited sequel (technically a prequel?) serves up a slice of single player excellence, bolstered by intense storytelling and some memorable set pieces.<\/p>\n

As long as the action holds up, we can see this one being a potential Game of the Year candidate for many, because you just know that Hangar 13 is primed to deliver on the narrative side of things.<\/p>\n

\"Silent<\/a><\/p>\n

The Silent Hill revival is in full swing, and Silent Hill F is doubling down on being truly creepy. While we don’t yet know the full scope of this potentially terrifying escapade, everything we’ve seen of it suggests tightly designed, old school survival horror.<\/p>\n

Still, who would have thought not one, but two Konami titles would make this top five? Imagine going back in time a few years and telling someone that the once-despised Japanese publisher would be threatening to enter some kind of new golden age. Madness, but we’re here for it.<\/p>\n

\"Death<\/a><\/p>\n

Well, you don’t have long to wait for this one! Out on PS5 in just over a week, Death Stranding 2 seeks to expand upon everything that its predecessor did well \u2014 and that includes the sheer strangeness of the characters and world building.<\/p>\n

It’s hard to envision a timeline where this sequel isn’t another classic from Kojima. With the engine, core gameplay, and storytelling style all nailed down in the first game, we’re fully expecting On the Beach to blow minds with utterly unpredictable plot points and shocking revelations.<\/p>\n

\"Ghost<\/a><\/p>\n

While we’re not at all surprised to see Ghost of Yotei take the top spot on this list, we didn’t think it’d sweep the competition quite so easily. Almost doubling the popularity of Death Stranding 2 in second place, the October-bound PS5 exclusive managed to rack up more votes than the vast majority of games in our poll combined.<\/p>\n

We love Ghost of Tsushima<\/a>, but it’s quite easy to see how a sequel could improve on Jin Sakai’s journey. More in-depth combat, a more dynamic, interactive open world, and perhaps a more nuanced narrative… Yotei should be a homerun for Sucker Punch.<\/p>\n
