{"id":19010,"date":"2025-04-14T10:56:12","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T10:56:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/19010\/"},"modified":"2025-04-14T10:56:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T10:56:12","slug":"father-killed-by-deadliest-cancer-within-10-weeks-daughter-warns-of-telltale-sign-no-one-can-afford-to-miss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/19010\/","title":{"rendered":"Father killed by deadliest cancer within 10 weeks &#8211; daughter warns of telltale sign no one can afford to miss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A heartbroken daughter whose father died just 10 weeks after a diagnosis of lethal pancreatic cancer has urged the public to &#8216;keep pushing&#8217; for help if &#8216;something feels wrong&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Gary Buesnel, then 59, had been suffering stomach pain and loss of appetite for a year when the disease was eventually spotted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But doctors initially said, on several occasions, that his problems were likely due to a far less serious issue, like hernia or gallstones.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;These should have been red flags, but instead doctors kept saying he was fine,&#8217; said his daughter, Leah, from Gorey in Jersey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">It was only when, one day in March 2020, his stomach pain became so intense he was forced to visit his local A&amp;E, that doctors agreed to perform vital tests.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Scans eventually revealed a cancerous lesion on his liver \u2014 which further investigations showed was a secondary tumour to the original one in his pancreas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;On\u00a0Pancake Day in 2020, it was confirmed, he had pancreatic cancer. And it had spread,&#8217; Leah told <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/health\/34004874\/dad-died-stomach-ache-pancreatic-cancer\/\">The Sun.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;It was stage four and doctors didn\u2019t give us any treatment options. You\u2019ve got eight to 12 weeks to live without treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;I searched all over the world to find someone to treat him, but there was nothing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;Obviously I now realise that by the time pancreatic cancer is diagnosed, it\u2019s often too late.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">From this point, Mr\u00a0Buesnel&#8217;s health got considerably worse; he began to develop jaundice \u2014 a sign of liver failure, when the skin and whites of the eyes begin to turn yellow.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The gardener had to undergo a further operation to open a blockage in his bile duct, followed by a session of chemotherapy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;I thought it had gone really well because he moved in with us and I walked into his room and I saw him sitting up, eating a <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/mars\/index.html\" id=\"mol-fed15900-190c-11f0-ab68-07b56a6b2fdf\" rel=\"noopener\">Mars<\/a> bar,&#8217; said Leah.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;I thought, oh yes, this is going to work, he\u2019s going to be okay. But he wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;That was the only session he managed to have. He just wasn\u2019t strong enough after that.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Shortly afterwards he was transferred to a hospice, where he lived for the last few weeks of his life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Eventually, he stopped eating and drinking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;I got a call saying he had three days left,&#8217; Leah said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;By the time I got there, he couldn\u2019t even really have a conversation. It just happened so quickly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;I didn\u2019t realise it would be like that. It\u2019s one of the most deadly cancers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;The pancreas is just hidden away inside your body.
