{"id":190209,"date":"2025-06-16T23:34:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T23:34:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/190209\/"},"modified":"2025-06-16T23:34:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T23:34:11","slug":"scotland-secures-record-share-of-uk-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/190209\/","title":{"rendered":"Scotland secures record share of UK investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ai-optimize-26 ai-optimize-introduction\">Nearly one in six inward investment projects in the UK last year were secured in Scotland, according to new data published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ey.com\/en_uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EY.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-27\">The record share of the market cements the country\u2019s position as the UK\u2019s top destination outside of London \u2013 for the tenth year in a row \u2013 while Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow remain among the top 10 UK cities for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects outside of London.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-28\">Although the total number of new projects in Scotland fell back slightly (4.9%) from record numbers in 2023, it compares to a drop of 13% in the UK, 14% in France and 17% in Germany.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotsecurewest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Scot-Secure West 2025 \u2013 Glasgow\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Copy-of-DIGIT.FYI-In-Article-Ads-750-x-210-px-6.jpg\" alt=\"Scot-Secure West 2025 \u2013 Glasgow\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-29\">EY\u2019s survey of global investors found that quarter of those planning to invest in the UK are targeting Scotland, maintaining the country\u2019s long-standing position in investors\u2019 eyes as the UK\u2019s preferred FDI destination outside of London.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-30\">To mark the results, deputy first minister Kate Forbes visited the Glasgow offices of Canadian IT and business consulting services firm CGI Inc. which employs around 750 employees across its Glasgow, Edinburgh, Borders and Aberdeen offices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-31\">The deputy first minister said: \u201cGiven the geopolitical uncertainties clearly affecting investor confidence across the world, this is an incredible endorsement of Scotland\u2019s proposition as a destination for global investment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recommended reading<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-10\">\u201cA huge amount of work, across both the private and public sectors, goes into securing these projects, which are vital for economic growth, job creation and bringing benefits across our towns and cities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-34\">\u201cFrom the likes of green aircraft engine ZeroAvia to ticketing hub Humanatix, 2025 is bringing further significant investment and exciting projects to Scotland.
