For many people, this is a bucket list thing to do alongside maybe riding in a hot air balloon or getting to see the Northern Lights.<\/p>\n
There’s something about the ‘world\u2019s most famous steam locomotive’ that gets everyone excited.<\/p>\n
We’re talking, of course, about the Flying Scotsman.<\/p>\n
Built in 1923, it was the first ever non-stop London to Edinburgh service by 1928 and, in 1934, it became the first locomotive in the UK to reach 100mph.<\/p>\n
Read more: Summer 2025 things to do in and around Birmingham<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Read next: A ‘spectacular’ PYO flower field is opening near Birmingham this summer<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Now, it has been announced that the famous train will be making a ‘rare guest appearance’ on the Severn Valley Railway<\/a> from Friday July 25 to Sunday July 27.<\/p>\n A spokesman for SVR said: “The world\u2019s most famous steam locomotive 60103 \u2018Flying Scotsman\u2019 will be making a rare guest appearance at the Severn Valley Railway from Friday 25 \u2013 Sunday 27 July.<\/p>\n “Paired with Gresley teak carriages, \u2018Flying Scotsman\u2019 will haul three return trips a day on Friday 25, and then on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July, as part of the SVR\u2019s Swingin\u2019 Sixties event, which celebrates the 60th anniversary of the line in preservation.<\/p>\n “\u2018Flying Scotsman\u2019 will haul our first full-line service of the season, as we reopen all the way to Bridgnorth<\/a> for public services on Friday 25 July.
