A food and drink festival featuring a host of independent businesses is making its return to the Greater Manchester town of Urmston<\/strong> for a second year this weekend. Organisers of the YUM (Your Urmston Matters) Food & Drink Festival<\/strong> have promised that this year\u2019s event is expected to be the biggest yet, with twice as many stalls and demonstrations<\/strong> as last year and a huge variety of entertainers confirmed.<\/p>\n

Organised by the Love Urmston volunteer team \u2013 a group of residents and business owners helping to drive footfall and excitement to the town \u2013 the event will be held on Saturday 21st June<\/strong> within the town\u2019s market area on Railway Road<\/strong>. A vast range of local food and drink businesses<\/strong>, including restaurants<\/a>, bars, cafes and retailers, have signed up to run stalls and demonstrations<\/strong>, along with numerous musicians, kid\u2019s entertainers, choirs and bands that will provide entertainment.<\/p>\n

There will be plenty of food and drink to devour at the Urmston food and drink festival including dishes from JJ\u2019s Caribbean Kitchen<\/strong> known for their popular jerk chicken and curried goat; Indian restaurant Sai Surbhi<\/strong>, who won two prizes at the Asian Restaurant Awards last year; and Inforno Pizzeria<\/strong> who are highly-regarded in the town for their oven-baked pizzas. Further local independent businesses at the event include Flour & Soul<\/strong>, Cof Cof Coffee<\/strong>, Banga Curries<\/strong>, Barrowfield Dog Park Cafe<\/strong>, YNOT Bar & Restaurant<\/strong>, Dev\u2019s Ice Cream<\/strong> Company<\/strong>, Mulino<\/strong>, The Greek Village<\/strong>, and Pomona Island Brewery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Running from 11am to 5pm, the Urmston festival will also feature a number of artisan producers and drink retailers<\/strong> selling locally-made items which can be bought to enjoy at home. There will also be live music<\/a><\/strong> from local musicians and groups throughout the day.<\/p>\n

Fred Davids, Chair of the Love Urmston team, said: \u201cLast year was the first ever YUM Food & Drink Fest and it attracted hundreds of visitors, and we can\u2019t wait to build on that. Events like this bring the community together and highlight the array of talented businesses that call Urmston home, but they\u2019re only possible through generous volunteer time, donations and sponsorship, so we\u2019re hugely grateful to Gecko Homes for their support.<\/p>\n
