Urgent works are set to be carried out at allotments across Birmingham<\/a> if proposals are approved.<\/p>\n The city council<\/a> wants to launch improvement projects within an overall budget of just over \u00a3288,000.<\/p>\n The authority identified a number of \u201curgent improvements\u201d at 14 sites around Birmingham.<\/p>\n READ MORE:<\/strong> Birmingham set to welcome more Afghan refugees amid ‘perilous conditions’ under Taliban rule<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n If proposals are approved at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, June 24, works would took place at those allotments to secure the boundaries and improve accessibility for all plot holders, including those with disabilities.<\/p>\n \u201cThis will potentially increase the number of people renting allotment plots which in turn will increase the income generated through these allotments,\u201d the council said in a report.<\/p>\n The authority said doing nothing would compromise the security of the sites and the existing road surfacing would become \u201cextremely dangerous\u201d.<\/p>\n The proposed works would be funded through the Flo Pickering Memorial Fund, which is allocated for allotment improvement works.<\/p>\n It cannot be used for any other purpose, the city council said.<\/p>\n The council\u2019s cabinet was recommended to approve the spend of \u00a3288,267 on the surfacing and fencing proposals at the 14 sites.<\/p>\n They are as follows:<\/p>\n – Bleak Hill Allotments, Stockland Green<\/p>\n – School Lane Allotments, Shard End<\/p>\n – Bramble Hall Hayes Allotments, Shard End<\/p>\n – Pool Lane Allotments, Garretts Green<\/p>\n – Francis Road Allotments, Yardley<\/a> West & Stechford<\/a><\/p>\n – Coventry Road Allotments, Sheldon<\/p>\n – Uffculme Highbury Park Allotments, Brandwood & King’s Heath<\/a><\/p>\n – Greenaleigh Road Allotments, Billesley<\/a><\/p>\n – Henlow Road Allotments, Highter’s Heath<\/p>\n – Woodthorpe Road Allotments, Brandwood & King’s Heath<\/p>\n – Strawberry Dene Selly Oak<\/a> Allotments<\/p>\n – Coney Green Allotments, Longbridge & West Heath<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1_Birmingham-City-Council.jpg\")
