Our city is packed full of grassroots <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/music\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">music<\/a> venues, has created some of the world\u2019s biggest musical artists, and given birth to hugely influential genres like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/music\/a-brief-history-of-grime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grime<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/nightlife\/how-the-black-sheep-bar-in-croydon-became-an-unlikely-home-of-dubstep\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dubstep<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not convinced yet? A new study has just revealed that the English capital is the best city on the world for music fans.\u00a0Researchers at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/seatpick.com\/concert-tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">SeatPick<\/a>\u00a0analysed cities around the world for their\u00a0number of concerts, music venues, festivals, home-grown artists and music-related businesses to give each city an overall music score out of 10.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Taking the top spot for 2025 was <strong>London<\/strong>, scoring\u00a09.67 out of 10 thanks to\u00a0its 199 venues, 1,734 concerts, 44 festivals and, most impressively, 3,042 homegrown artists.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t to say that London\u2019s music scene hasn\u2019t had its fair share of challenges. Recently, the Mayor of London launched a \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/mayor-of-london-sadiq-khan-is-launching-a-nightlife-taskforce-to-boost-londons-nightlife-020425\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nightlife taskforce<\/a>\u2019 to boost late-night activity in the\u00a0capital amid soaring operating costs and alarming closures of nightlife venues. Let\u2019s hope this taskforce can help keep London in the top spot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just SeatPick that thinks London is a superior music city. The\u00a0Big Smoke also took the top spot in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/news\/its-official-these-are-europes-music-capitals-in-2025-040825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent ranking of Europe\u2019s music capitals<\/a>, which also incorporated the number of nightclubs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Coming in second on the list\u00a0was the home of techno and Berghain,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/berlin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Berlin<\/a><\/strong>, scoring\u00a09.55. The German city was followed by <strong>Chicago<\/strong>, <strong>Vienna<\/strong>, and <strong>Nashville<\/strong> respectively.
