{"id":191748,"date":"2025-06-17T13:15:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-17T13:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/191748\/"},"modified":"2025-06-17T13:15:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-17T13:15:10","slug":"high-street-healthcare-could-start-soon-north-yorkshire-mayor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/191748\/","title":{"rendered":"High street healthcare could start soon &#8211; North Yorkshire mayor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Skaith, the elected mayor of York and North Yorkshire, said as well as getting more people <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cye029z9ynno\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">back onto the county&#8217;s high streets<\/a>, pressure could also be reduced on hospitals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Meanwhile, if his plan went ahead it could also prove easier for patients from rural communities to get to appointments, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We&#8217;re talking to the NHS and are looking at the space and where the units would best fit,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We&#8217;ve identified a couple, but just need to make sure they&#8217;re fit for purpose and the investment they would need to get going.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Skaith said rural healthcare &#8211; and the problems people had accessing it &#8211; was an important focus of his proposals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;It&#8217;s one thing doing it in York, where people are in striking distance of the hospital,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;But it&#8217;s another thing doing it out in the moors or the Dales.
