It\u2019s now been eight years since the release of the fourth installment in the Hatchet<\/strong> franchise, titled Victor Crowley, which popped up as a surprise back in 2017. The character hasn\u2019t been heard from since, leaving many fans to wonder if the fourth film was Crowley\u2019s last.<\/p>\n

Franchise creator Adam Green<\/strong>, who directed all but one installment in the slasher saga, is next directing a shark-themed survival movie titled The Ascent<\/strong><\/a>, which will mark Green\u2019s return to the director\u2019s chair for the first time since Victor Crowley back in 2017. In the meantime, he provides an update on Hatchet\u2018s future in a new chat with podcast Talks from the Crypt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always a possibility. I can\u2019t get into all of the minutiae because it would take up six more hours, but the long story short is, once we can make the movie with different entities behind the scenes at the top level, then I\u2019ll be interested in doing [Hatchet] 5<\/strong>,\u201d Green explains. \u201cBut things need to change. That\u2019s probably enough; people can make of that what they want.\u201d<\/p>\n

Green continues, \u201cThe creative team is still very much a happy family and would love to do it, but\u2026 we need to be under new management, maybe that\u2019s the best way to put it<\/strong>. The diplomatic way to put it. I think the old management knows at this point, I\u2019m not kidding when I keep saying I\u2019m not going to do it. So we\u2019ll see what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

A throwback to the gory slashers of the 1980s, the original Hatchet was released in 2006, with horror legend Kane Hodder<\/strong> playing bayou butcher Victor Crowley in all four movies so far.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
