Artificial intelligence developer Nabla has raised $70 million as the company looks to expand its software that automates clinical note-taking to additional applications, like billing.<\/p>\n

The fundraise, led by HV Capital, follows rapid adoption of ambient scribe technology among health systems hoping to address clinician burnout. Since 2023, it has been among the best-funded applications of AI in health care, including substantial raises from Nabla competitors: Abridge announced it raised $250 million in February, and both Ambience and Suki announced $70 million fundraises in 2024. Microsoft-owned Nuance is also a competitor.<\/p>\n

Nabla was founded in 2018 by a team including engineers Alex LeBrun and Martin Raison, who previously worked at Facebook, which acquired<\/a> their company, Wit.ai, in 2015. \u201cWe were seeking redemption from selling ads,\u201d LeBrun, the company\u2019s CEO, told STAT. They turned to health care as a way to apply their AI skills to \u201csomething useful.\u201d (Before Wit.ai, LeBrun\u2019s company VirtuOz was acquired<\/a> by Nuance.)<\/p>\n
