{"id":193097,"date":"2025-06-18T01:01:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T01:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/193097\/"},"modified":"2025-06-18T01:01:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T01:01:09","slug":"germany-and-latvia-join-forces-to-boost-innovation-and-port-efficiency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/193097\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany and Latvia join forces to boost innovation and port efficiency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18.<\/strong> On June 19, Latvian<br \/>\nEconomics Minister Viktor Valainis will travel to Germany&#8217;s Hamburg<br \/>\non a working visit aimed at strengthening economic ties between<br \/>\nLatvia and the Northern German region, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.trend.az\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trend<\/a> reports via the Ministry of Economics of<br \/>\nLatvia.<\/p>\n<p>The visit seeks to reinforce existing bilateral relationships,<br \/>\nexplore new opportunities for cooperation, and pave the way for<br \/>\nincreased engagement by Latvian businesses in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHamburg is already one of Latvia\u2019s most strategically<br \/>\nsignificant partners in Germany. We see tremendous potential in<br \/>\nexpanding this partnership. Through this visit, we aim to deepen<br \/>\nestablished contacts and advance specific cooperation projects that<br \/>\nwill benefit both Latvian entrepreneurs and our Hamburg<br \/>\ncounterparts,\u201d said Minister Valainis.<\/p>\n<p>In the course of the visit, Minister Valainis will meet with<br \/>\nHamburg\u2019s Senator for Economy and Innovation, Dr. Melanie Leonhard,<br \/>\nas well as leading figures from the region\u2019s business and<br \/>\ninnovation sectors. A business networking event at the Port of<br \/>\nHamburg will also take place, bringing together Latvian and German<br \/>\ncompanies to explore potential collaborations.<\/p>\n<p>A key moment of the visit will be the signing of a memorandum of<br \/>\ncooperation between Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT), the Freeport<br \/>\nof Riga, and the Port of Hamburg, focusing on innovation in<br \/>\nmaritime logistics and digital solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Energy cooperation will also be a top priority. Minister<br \/>\nValainis is scheduled to meet with representatives of the Renewable<br \/>\nEnergy Cluster of Hamburg to discuss joint projects in wind energy<br \/>\ndevelopment. He will also visit the HHLA Sky Innovation Center to<br \/>\ngain insights into Hamburg\u2019s experience in logistics automation and<br \/>\ndigital infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The visit to the Port of Hamburg will provide a vital platform<br \/>\nfor knowledge exchange on port management best practices, with a<br \/>\nfocus on digitalization, sustainable logistics, and governance<br \/>\nmodels that enhance international competitiveness. Latvia aims to<br \/>\nlearn from Hamburg\u2019s infrastructure development expertise, while<br \/>\nshowcasing its achievements in port digitalization as a source of<br \/>\ninspiration for German partners.<\/p>\n<p>Following the visit, Minister Valainis will address the<br \/>\nprestigious \u201c\u00dcbersee-Club\u201d \u2013 one of Hamburg\u2019s most influential<br \/>\nbusiness and political circles \u2013 highlighting Latvia\u2019s innovation<br \/>\npotential, its reliable business environment, and its strategic<br \/>\nrole in the Baltic and Northern European regions.<\/p>\n<p>The minister will be accompanied by a delegation of Latvian<br \/>\nentrepreneurs and institutions, including representatives from LMT,<br \/>\nthe Freeport of Riga, LVR Fleet, Techritory, Aerones, and the<br \/>\nLatvian ICT Cluster, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Latvia\u2019s active involvement in Hamburg\u2019s Port Days this past<br \/>\nMay, along with Dr. Melanie Leonhard\u2019s visit to Riga in April,<br \/>\nunderlines the shared commitment to closer economic cooperation.<br \/>\nThis visit will serve as a significant step forward in realizing<br \/>\njoint projects between Latvia and Northern Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Germany is one of Latvia\u2019s top economic partners, ranking second<br \/>\nin 2024 in terms of total trade volume, exceeding \u20ac5 billion. It is<br \/>\nalso one of the largest foreign investors in Latvia, with \u20ac1.54<br \/>\nbillion in direct investment in 2024. CE\u2013Beteiligungs-GmbH,<br \/>\nrepresenting the Lidl retail chain, is the largest German investor<br \/>\nby capital investment.<\/p>\n<p>The investment potential between countries remains strong,<br \/>\nparticularly in innovation, ICT, smart energy, and industrial<br \/>\npartnerships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18.
