Two-time Group 1 winner Soul Rush will miss the summer racing season with a fracture to his left fourth metacarpal bone, or splint bone, reports Daily Sports.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 7-year-old by Rulership ran in last weekend’s G1 Yasuda Kinen in Japan, but could only manage third as the favorite.<\/p>\n

Trainer Yasutoshi Ikee told Daily Sports: “It looks like the fracture occurred during the race. He probably couldn’t push off with his left leg, and that’s why he drifted to the left in the stretch. It’s just like a car drifting when the left front tire goes flat, horses tend to lean toward the side that’s hurting. Even so, he gave it his all while racing with a fracture. Thankfully, the injury isn’t too severe, so we don’t expect it to affect his autumn campaign. He’ll use this summer break to both rest and heal, and we’ll aim to get him back into condition for a fall return.”<\/p>\n

In the Yasuda Kinen, Soul Rush was making his first start since catching Romantic Warrior (IRE) \u2500 the 2024 Yasuda Kinen winner \u2500 in a final surge to prevail by a nose in the April 5 Dubai Turf (G1) going 1 1\/8 miles at Meydan. The victory gave the son of Rulership (JPN) his second Group 1 score, and his ninth win in 25 starts. <\/p>\n

He captured his first top-level triumph when taking the Mile Championship at Kyoto last November. Following that race, he closed out the year with a second-place finish in the Dec. 8 Longines Hong Kong Mile (G1) at Sha Tin.<\/p>\n

Soul Rush had been under consideration for the Group 1 Sussex Stakes in England in July, but will now be on the sidelines.<\/p>\n
