\n\tAfter completing cancer treatment in September 2024 and revealing she\u2019s officially in remission in January, Kate has gladly returned to public duties\u2014including with recent appearances at Trooping the Colour<\/a> and Garter Day<\/a>. With her cancer behind them, the couple is reportedly thinking ahead to their upcoming roles as King and Queen.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere are some major shifts coming behind the scenes,\u201d a friend told People<\/a> about the couple\u2019s new era. William and Kate are reportedly hyper-focused on building a trusted team of top advisers as they prepare for the monarchy. \u201cThey are really finessing what works and what doesn\u2019t,\u201d the friend added.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Kate continues to heal, she and William have been focused on assessing how to prioritize their young family<\/a> while preparing to take the throne. \u201cThey were able to step back and reassess their priorities in all aspects of their lives,\u201d the couple\u2019s friend claimed. <\/p>\n

\n\tKate\u2019s time away from public duties reportedly also made it clear to the couple how essential she is to the royal family. Before revealing her diagnosis, Kate\u2019s absence generated intense scrutiny and speculation about the couple\u2019s relationship, including allegations that William had been unfaithful<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tKate has kept her appearances to a minimum since recovering, which has only made her outings more impactful.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShe was already the only working royal left with any special pulling power. Now her scarcity means that it has risen,\u201d King Charles III biographer Catherine Mayer said. \u201cShe is the one who generates excitement. For her, less is actually more.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThis may signal William and Kate\u2019s efforts to transition the British Royal Family<\/a> back to a quieter, less forward-facing role, similar to the air of mystery William\u2019s late-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, cultivated around herself. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the past year, William has shown several signs that he is trying to get some distance from his father\u2019s vision of the monarchy, including by hiring a separate legal team<\/a> earlier this year. He also opened up about his planned approach in a November 2024 interview with the BBC<\/a>. \u201cI can only describe what I\u2019m trying to do, and that\u2019s I\u2019m trying to do it differently and I\u2019m trying to do it for my generation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd to give you more of an understanding around it,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m doing it with maybe a smaller \u2018R\u2019 in the royal, if you like, that\u2019s maybe a better way of saying it.\u201d <\/p>\n
