Rory McIlroy ‘seems p****d off at everyone’ following his issues at the US Open, according to ESPN presenter Scott Van Pelt.<\/p>\n

The golfer recently struggled at Oakmont, with JJ Spaun taking full advantage to claim the first major of his career.<\/p>\n

McIlroy appeared to be on top of the world when he won the Masters back in April, becoming the first European star in history to achieve the career Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

But his form has dropped off a cliff in the time since and, at Oakmont, he was well off the pace as Spaun reigned supreme.<\/p>\n

McIlroy lashed out at the media and cut a frustrated figure throughout the tournament as his hopes of another major went up in smoke.<\/p>\n

Some have speculated that there’s some turmoil behind the scenes that hasn’t yet been disclosed.<\/p>\n

And while Van Pelt has refused to suggest there are problems in his personal life, he has expressed a belief that McIlroy seems angry at the world at the current moment in time.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the SVPod, he said: “People are going to speculate about his life. I will not do that. The man’s life is his own business.<\/p>\n

“He mentioned after yesterday, like, ‘I climbed my Everest, and I’m trying to come down the mountain.’<\/p>\n

“And I get that. I, in my life, haven’t ever, nor will I ever have a monumental accomplishment such as that – finishing off the career Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know what comes afterwards. I’m just baffled by what happened, like what’s going on?<\/p>\n

“You wonder, is it like, ‘I don’t have anything to chase. I don’t have a hill to climb.’<\/p>\n

“But that doesn’t, to me, explain just the fact that his resting posture seems p****d off at everyone. And I’m just baffled by it.”<\/p>\n

Van Pelt’s comments have been echoed by former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.<\/p>\n

McGinley said: “He looks fed up to me, he looks like he’s had enough of everything.<\/p>\n

“Whether it was the emotional release of everything that’s gone on, not just in winning the Masters but in his whole career being pointed towards trying to be a Grand Slam winner and now he’s kind of reeling on the ropes a bit after that.<\/p>\n

McIlroy can be forgiven for having a dip in form.<\/p>\n

His Masters triumph back in April was the crowning moment of his career, one that catapulted him to a place among the golfing gods.<\/p>\n

McIlroy will be aiming to bounce back when The Open comes around in July.<\/p>\n
