Firefighters remain at the scene of a blaze in Middleton tonight (Wednesday, June 18).<\/p>\n

Emergency services were first called to the blaze on Old Hall Street at around 4.50pm.<\/p>\n

The fire involves a storage unit, with eight fire engines called to the scene.<\/a><\/p>\n

A number of road closures remain in place<\/a> while fire crews work to bring the blaze under control.<\/p>\n

In an update at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said the cordons were expected to remain in place throughout the night.<\/p>\n

A fire service spokesperson said: “Firefighters are working hard to contain this fire and will be in attendance throughout the night to bring the blaze under control<\/p>\n

“Road closures are likely to remain in place into the morning and local residents are still advised to keep windows and doors closed.”<\/p>\n
