Mateo Joseph is ready to \u201ccontinue\u201d as his long-term Leeds United future comes under increased speculation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joseph could soon be a Premier League<\/a> striker once again after Leeds<\/a> sealed both promotion to the Premier League and the Championship title, beating Burnley<\/a> on goal difference with a total of 100 points.<\/p>\n

However, of the 95 league goals scored by Daniel Farke<\/a>\u2018s side last term, Joseph managed just three, a far cry from what was expected of the 21-year-old after his electric start to Leeds\u2019 pre-season in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Outscored by Joel Piroe<\/a> and defensive-minded players like Jayden Bogle, Junior Firpo, Pascal Struijk and Ao Tanaka last season, doubts have emerged over Joseph\u2019s ability to stand out at Premier League level<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Former Leeds and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider<\/strong> last month that an upgrade is needed on Piroe and Patrick Bamford next season<\/a>, putting the writing on the wall for Joseph\u2019s prospects.<\/p>\n

Leeds have already laid the groundwork to sign a new centre-forward this summer with Joseph set to be pushed down the pecking order if and when one arrives<\/a>, and this could result in his own transfer away.<\/p>\n

Joseph<\/a>\u2018s profligate form at Elland Road is a far cry from his displays with Spain<\/a>\u2018s Under-21s, and he posted on Instagram (18 June) after La Roja qualified for the last eight of the 2025 Under-21 Euros.<\/p>\n

In a post liked by fellow Leeds forwards Wilfried Gnonto<\/a> and Largie Ramazani<\/a> \u2013\u00a0who also left a \u2018love heart\u2019 emoji \u2013 Joseph said: \u201cGreat team effort and goal achieved \u2013 we are in the quarters. We continue\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Joseph exit looks inevitable as Leeds line up high-profile transfer<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spanish side Real Betis<\/a> are set to do plenty of business with Leeds this summer, and could well re-ignite their interest in Joseph as well as completing a deal for United left-back Junior Firpo on a free transfer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wolfsburg forward Lukas Nmecha has already been brought through the doors at Elland Road<\/a> on a free transfer himself, and the German international is likely to rank above Joseph in Farke\u2019s list of strikers.<\/p>\n

A centre-forward remains a priority for Farke this summer though and Leeds have already seen a \u201chuge\u201d \u00a332m bid rejected by Fulham for Rodrigo Muniz<\/a>, implying that regardless of his progress last season, Joseph\u2019s best chances of first-team football will be elsewhere.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
