A road in Manchester city centre was taped off on Monday afternoon (April 14) with a huge emergency services response pictured at the scene.<\/p>\n
Ambulances, fire engines, police vehicles and enhances rescue units lined Portland Street, as Charlotte Street was taped off amid the incident shortly before 5pm.<\/p>\n
It was reported that a witness had called emergency services after seeing somebody stuck on the scaffolding of a building at around 4.51pm.<\/p>\n
Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group <\/strong>HERE<\/a><\/p>\n Specialist rescue units from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended along with police and sealed off the area during the rescue operation.<\/p>\n Emergency vehicles were pictured blocking part of Portland Street near to the Caf\u00e9 Nero venue, with adjoining Charlotte Street cordoned off.<\/p>\n A ‘thorough search’ of the building and scaffolding was carried out but nobody was found, police have confirmed.<\/p>\n The incident was quickly scaled down after it was deemed nobody was in need of rescue or injured.<\/p>\n The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service also confirmed they received reports of a ‘person on the scaffolding’ and that following a full search of the area, the scene was closed after around 40 minutes.<\/p>\n —<\/p>\n Day in day out, our reporters in the Manchester Evening News newsroom bring you remarkable stories from all aspects of Mancunian life.
