The project aims to connect onshore wind farm projects to the National Grid through the Tywi and Teifi valleys.<\/p>\n<p>Residents oppose the plans, saying Miliband&#8217;s only legacy will be &#8220;destroying the British countryside&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"b906b\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"c8406cb56e70068a88b48a6dd60587d9\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%202119%201415'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/rural-wales.jpg\" width=\"2119\" height=\"1415\" alt=\"Rural wales\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The company wants to build a 60-mile network of 108ft pylons through rural Wales<\/p>\n<p>GETTY<\/p>\n<p>This resistance could hinder the Labour minister&#8217;s plans to build hundreds of pylons across the country in his net zero push.<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 affected landowners have been refusing access to their land for surveying, unless underground cables are &#8220;seriously considered&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Green Gen Cymru selected more than a dozen to be dragged to court on civil grounds after applying for warrants to access private land.<\/p>\n<p>If warrants are issued, continuing to deny access would become a criminal matter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MORE LIKE THIS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wynne Jenkins, 71, reluctantly agreed to grant access after being &#8220;bullied&#8221; into signing a licence agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The transport boss feared \u00a350,000 in legal fees and worried about potential criminal charges affecting his business.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You don&#8217;t want to be in front of the commissioner with a criminal record,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Other farmers have vowed not to back down. Resident Glenn Edgeworth, 69, called the plans a &#8220;disaster&#8221;, adding: &#8220;The thought people are going to ruin it is heartbreaking when there&#8217;s an alternative.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Robert Lankester and Eirian Edwards from Llandovery Pylon Community Action Group claim cable ploughing is a &#8220;cost comparative&#8221; method that would be a &#8220;win win&#8221; for all parties.<\/p>\n<p>The group aims to preserve the &#8220;unspoilt part of Wales&#8221; with its &#8220;world class scenery&#8221;, recently recognised when the &#8220;Heart of Wales Line&#8221; was included in National Geographic&#8217;s list of best train trips globally.<\/p>\n<p>The Welsh resistance could serve as a test case for several proposed pylon networks across Britain.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the Government offered \u00a3250 annual energy bill discounts to residents near new pylons, which Lankester called &#8220;an absolute joke&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"39056\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"e5f02466f1f096537655bdc8d31ae0f0\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%204944%203296'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ed-miliband.jpg\" width=\"4944\" height=\"3296\" alt=\"Ed Miliband\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Residents oppose the plans, saying Miliband&#8217;s only legacy will be &#8220;destroying the British countryside&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>PA<\/p>\n<p>Ann Davies, Plaid Cymru MP for Caerfyrddin, attended court hearings alongside 80 protesters in what she described as a &#8220;David vs Goliath battle&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The tenant farmer called the court process &#8220;theatre, show and intimidation&#8221;.
