A road was shut in both directions after an emergency gas release. The junction of Hall Lane and Tailor’s Lane in Maghull has been shut due to an emergency gas release, with Sefton<\/a> Council issuing an alert to people.<\/p>\n A spokesperson from Sefton Council said on social media: “Maghull<\/a> road closure \u2013 Hall Lane (Junction with Tailor’s Lane).<\/p>\n “Hall Lane, Maghull is currently closed to all traffic due to an emergency gas escape. We do not yet have an end date for the road closure, but updates can be found at https:\/\/www.sefton.gov.uk\/…\/stree…\/road-and-streetworks.”<\/p>\n A Cadent spokesperson said: \u201cOur engineers are currently working at the junction of Hall Lane and Tailor\u2019s Lane in Maghull to repair an intersecting pipeline that supplies gas to both streets.<\/p>\n \u201cThe section requiring repair is located directly at the junction, which means the work involves complex engineering to encapsulate the existing structure. To ensure safe access for our engineers, we\u2019ve had to close the road at the junction – access is restricted to residents only.<\/p>\n \u201cWe expect to complete the project by the middle of next week and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.<\/p>\n \u201cDuring works like these it is a good reminder that if at any point, day or night, residents smell gas, they call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999*.
