as transfer records listed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Liverpool-bound Florian Wirtz reportedly takes another major step to completing his record transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, as the 22-year-old completes the first part of his medical.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/liverpool\/\" title=\"More Liverpool\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"autotag\">Liverpool<\/strong><\/a>-bound <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/people\/florian-wirtz\/\" title=\"More Florian Wirtz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"autotag\">Florian Wirtz<\/strong><\/a> has reportedly taken another major step to completing his record transfer from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/bayer-leverkusen\/\" title=\"More Bayer Leverkusen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"autotag\">Bayer Leverkusen<\/strong><\/a>, as the 22-year-old has completed the first part of his medical.<\/p>\n<p>What looks like being the deal of the summer is edging closer to completion, as Wirtz flew into England on Thursday to finalise his switch to the Premier League champions.<\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0reportedly failing with a pair of earlier nine-figure offers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/liverpool\/transfer-talk\/news\/trouble-in-transfer-paradise-as-liverpool-strike-potential-pl-record-wirtz-deal_575457.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Liverpool succeeded with a package totalling \u00a3116m<\/strong><\/a>, made up of a \u00a3100m fixed fee and \u00a316m in add-ons.<\/p>\n<p>Wirtz had already given Liverpool the thumbs-up weeks ago, having informed Bayern Munich of his desire to join the English champions after Manchester City pulled out of the\u00a0running due to the finances involved.<\/p>\n<p>Official confirmation of Wirtz&#8217;s move should come soon, as journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Plettigoal\/status\/1935810300940329360\">Florian Plettenberg<\/a>\u00a0reports that the Germany international has passed the first half of his medical tests at Anfield.<\/p>\n<p>Wirtz is expected to complete the necessary examinations on Friday, after which he will put pen to paper on a long-term contract until 2030 and be unveiled as the Reds&#8217; who is expected to leave this summer &#8211; will soon be knocked off his throne.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Wirtz will become the most expensive German footballer of all time, an honour currently held by Kai Havertz and his \u00a371m arrival at Chelsea from none other than Leverkusen in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>If Liverpool end up forking out another \u00a37m or so in bonuses, the 22-year-old can also call himself the most expensive Premier League footballer in history, eclipsing Enzo Fernandez&#8217;s \u00a3106.8m switch from Chelsea to Benfica in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Wirtz will depart Leverkusen having amassed 57 goals and 65 assists in 197 matches for the club and will become Liverpool&#8217;s third signing of the summer after Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi.<\/p>\n<p>Following the playmaker&#8217;s switch, Liverpool are anticipated to complete a deal for Milos Kerkez and are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsmole.co.uk\/football\/liverpool\/transfer-talk\/news\/liverpool-could-beat-chelsea-as-reds-in-best-position-to-sign-quansah-successor_575876.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>expected to make a &#8216;significant&#8217;
