{"id":199008,"date":"2025-06-20T05:06:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T05:06:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/199008\/"},"modified":"2025-06-20T05:06:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T05:06:17","slug":"diarra-set-to-join-stephan-at-qpr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/199008\/","title":{"rendered":"Diarra set to join Stephan at QPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Alou Diarra is likely to join Julien Stephan at QPR.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Former Rennes and Strasbourg boss Stephan<a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westlondonsport.com\/qpr\/football-stephan-set-to-take-over-at-qpr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> is taking over as head coach at Rangers<\/strong><\/a> and is set to bring former France international Diarra with him to west London.<\/p>\n<p>Diarra\u2019s playing career included spells at Charlton, West Ham and Liverpool \u2013 although he made just two league starts for the Hammers and did not play at all for Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>His other clubs included Bayern Munich and French sides Marseille, Nice, Lens, Lyon, Bordeaux and Nancy.<\/p>\n<p>Since retiring from playing, the 43-year-old has had coaching roles at Lens and Troyes. He is now in line for a return to London.<\/p>\n<p>Denis Zanko, who has managed Laval, Le Mans and more recently Toulouse, is another possible option as Stephan\u2019s right-hand man, but it currently looks like Diarra will be appointed.<\/p>\n<p>Stephan will also be joined at QPR by analyst Rudy Cuni, who worked closely with him at Rennes.<\/p>\n<p>The first signing of the Stephan era <a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westlondonsport.com\/qpr\/football-wls-qpr-keen-on-reading-defender-mbengue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>could be Reading defender Amadou Mbengue. <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rangers are trying to complete a deal for the out-of-contract 23-year-old but face competition from other clubs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Alou Diarra is likely to join Julien Stephan at QPR.
