{"id":19908,"date":"2025-04-14T18:45:13","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T18:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/19908\/"},"modified":"2025-04-14T18:45:13","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T18:45:13","slug":"appeal-for-return-of-theatrical-costume-stolen-from-festival-theatre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/19908\/","title":{"rendered":"Appeal for return of theatrical costume stolen from Festival Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        A coat which has been stolen from Festival Theatre is an important part of the show, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, which is coming to Edinburgh next month \u2013 and the production company is appealing for help with its return.<\/p>\n<p>A man has been arrested and charged <a href=\"https:\/\/theedinburghreporter.co.uk\/2025\/04\/arrest-made-after-theft-from-festival-theatre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in connection with the theft<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe said: \u201cThe coat, worth several thousand pounds, is a handmade faux-fur coat that was worn in London\u2019s West End and in the show\u2019s UK and Ireland Tour by the White Witch.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was on display in the front-of-house at the Festival Theatre when it was stolen. It is a huge coat as you can see from the video on our social media on how it was made, and is one-of-a-kind.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt brings so much joy to the children who come see the show and the producers simply want the costume back in one piece so it can continue to spread the magic and spirit of Narnia to audiences as the show continues its travels across the UK and Ireland.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DGBGt7roUq1\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>A spokesperson for Capital Theatres said on Monday: \u201cThe safety and security of patrons and staff in our venues remains our top priority and we would like to thank the authorities for their support following a recent theft from the Festival Theatre. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA costume from the show The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, which was on display in the Festival Theatre foyer in advance of the performance run from 13 to 17 May 2025, went missing on 27 March. Police Scotland have confirmed that an individual has been arrested and charged. Enhanced security measures are in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cA 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a theft from a theatre in Nicolson Street, Edinburgh.
