Rob Holding has sent an emotional \u2018thank you\u2019 message to former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder via social media.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Crystal Palace<\/a> defender spent the latter half of last season on loan with the Blades, making 10 Championship appearances. <\/p>\n

However, the 29-year-old did not feature in the South Yorkshire outfit\u2019s playoff final defeat to Sunderland on 24 May.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, after failing to guide the Blades back to the Premier League, Wilder was sacked by Sheffield United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Holding has made just one appearance for Crystal Palace since joining the South London club from Arsenal<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n

The former Gunners man was in desperate need of game time before joining Sheffield United, but could not help the Bramall Lane club seal a top-flight return. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

However, taking to his Instagram story [19 June], Holding showed gratitude towards Wilder<\/a>: \u201cGreat human and great manager, can\u2019t thank you enough for what you did for me this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilder led Sheffield United to defeat in the playoff final<\/p>\n

The South Yorkshire outfit would go on to show their class when they beat West Country club Bristol City 3-0 in both legs of their playoff semi-final.<\/p>\n

However, Wilder\u2019s men would once again lack composure in a pivotal moment when they were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland<\/a> at Wembley despite holding a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

But the decision to sack Wilder proved to be a divisive one, as the 57-year-old is still held in high regard thanks to the fact that he led Sheffield United to promotion to the Premier League in 2019, before landing a top-half spot in the top flight.<\/p>\n

Therefore, to win the Bramall Lane faithful over, newly appointed boss Ruben Selles<\/a> must enjoy a positive start to next season.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
